GRAPHENE REPORT
Graphene a 1-atom-thick sheet of carbon in hexagonic crystal lattice. 200x stronger than steel. Tougher than diamond. World's thinnest material. Flexible, transparent, highly conductive of heat and el. Stocks: AIXG, CVV, FCSMF, NGPHF, GTI, CHGI, PKX.
Graphene Platform launched world's largest single layer, single crystal graphene sheets. High electron mobility. Excellent optical, mechanical, thermal properties. Offered on silicon carbide.
Researchers from Irish nanoscience institute developed new graphene-based sensor tech that could become new platform for low energy, remote powered sensors for many aps. One is air quality control systems in vehicles. Other aps in bacteria, parasite detection, disease diagnosis. Chemically modulated graphene diodes made from single layer of graphene on silicon. Graphene exposed to liquids or gases and diode made (by different doping) so various absorbates transfer charge.
Garmor to commercialize new low cost graphene production process. U of Central FL spin-off.
Graphene-based quantum dots used to create humidity, pressure or temp sensing devices. Kansas State U researchers. Improved electron tunneling. Able to detect trace amounts of water on Mars. Nanoscale graphite cuttings to make graphene nano ribbons. Chem-cleaving ribbons made into 100 nanometer-sized pieces create quantum dots.
CTI Nanotech achieved milliohm resistivity for graphene paper samples. Partnering with American Graphite Tech who supplies graphite materials.
University College London researching graphene nanomaterials for aps already in pre-clinical experiments.
Achieving quantum spin liquid in 2D materials may be more difficult than estimated. Quantum mech effects hinder development of atomic order while retaining strong electron interactions. No evidence of intermediate spin liquid phase.
U of Manchester Nottingham developed new ultrafast, bistable graphene transistor. May enable new med imaging, security devices. Bistable = can spontaneously switch between 2 electronic states. Made from 2 layers of graphene separated by a boron nitride insulating layer. Small voltage can tune electron clouds in graphene layers. Induces electrons to move at high speed between layers. Quantum tunneling over thin insulating layer. Emits high-freq elmag waves between radar, IR.
Boron nitride nanosheets soak up organic pollutants. "White graphene."
Manchester U, National U of Singapore developed new, efficient, sensitive solar cell from graphene sheets, transistion metal dichalcogenides (TMDC). TMDC sheets very efficient light absorbers. Graphene used as transparent conductive layer.

Allows bulk volumes of pristine, few-layer graphene platelets from inexpensive, commonly available feedstock. CO2 to oxidize magnesium. Forms nano-scale magnesium oxide + carbon. Possible to chemically functionalize, dope produced graphene.

US has spent $8T protecting Hormuz, Persian Gulf since '76. $8 trillion. Original rationale was Soviets were running out of oil and would march to Persian Gulf for it. (Just a little Soviet paranoia? Of course, now it's Iran. Military always needs a bogeyman. But look it all over. $8 trilllion. Only $222B/y over the 36. Only $222B/y for paranoia. And US headed for $17T debt when it was paying down the $5T in '00. I bet we're all frustrated with the way things went.)
