STUFF

It would take a cut of 80% of CO2 by '20 to keep the atmos from exceeding 400 PPM. '09 we were at 387 PPM. 350 is where we need to be. Course, if you're a Mayan, the world ends in '12 anyway.

Lith-ion batt shipments est. increase shipments in '10 31%.

HUD wastes $1B /yr on energy from not insulating walls, replacing inefficient appliances/bulbs, painting roofs white, etc in 3M homes.

LNG (liq nat gas) is 1/4 the cost of jetfuel (kerosene), less corrosive, less explosive. I'll say this again. 1/4 the cost. Why is LNG not happening for airlines, military, etc? Unless this is not a fact.
Maybe infrastructure is the reason. Excuse me. 1/4 the cost.

EU's biofuel demand is causing a land grab in Africa. How long will this shame go on? Food for fuel. Kind of evil if you think about it.

Toxic metals leaking at 3 coal plant ash dumps/lagoons in Ohio, one in S. Dakota. EPA to decide on regulations for coal waste.

Wind turbines running into opposition from military, FAA. 400-footers look like storms on radar. Well, I guess they just can't figure out where the wind turbines ARE. Stopped 9GW of projects in '09.

Every second, 5 are born and 2 die in the world. In the next 50 years we will need more food produced than in the last 10k years combined. Ever read Malthus?

National oil companies control ~90% proven reserves, over half of production. US oil imports from Saud down 35% last 7 yrs. Canada imports up 61% last 10 yrs.

Over 90% of AAA mortgage-backed securities from '06-'07 are now junk. Moody's and Fitch still rate Spain AAA. S&P downgraded to AA. 20% unemployment, current account deficit 10%, defaulted 3 times in last 2 centuries. A "2nd tier" rating agency - Egan Jones - is paid by bond buyers, not issuers for eval. Imagine that. China's Dagong Global - their new bond rater - rates US AA.

There are 20 possible answers in the Magic 8-ball.

France just decided to inject $1.7B into clean E (including biofuels). Woo. All of $1.7B. Woo.

Swiss gov report says new small diesel cars are better environmentally than EV's that charge with coal or NG.

Last tho not least, California legislators decided not to pass the 33% renewable energy standards bill.

Happy global warming y'all.
