SUNDAY

Just thinkin. Our government should come up with some kind of tax breaks or matching funds program or other incentives to get the corporations to spend a good part of their $2T cash stash on job creation/capital spending. Even if it costs another trillion in fed money in the short run. But let's not bubbalize it.

Germany GDP grew at 9% last Q. What can we do that they're doing? Just thinkin.

Jus sayin. Since the Dems are losing power because they went for health care first being a big part of the polemics, for the sake of our country we should make sure that the Republicans get both houses of Congress. Then they will have just as much stake in governing the country. If they fall just short of majorities, we will have gridlock and no accountability for the Republicans. If they win both houses, we will have flexible gridlock with both sides accountable. So. I'm votin red (is that Republican?).

Maybe we need a green party. You know, green beer, green houses, green budgets.

SATURDAY

Well, maybe the market is going up a little here. But September is a month to watch out for.

Anyway, ABAT looks fine. AMSC may go up 10% or more here. APWR may test under $6, but they're definitely also a long term buy/hold. BWEN looks like it's on its bottom. CREE should go up. A mystery why they even went down after their Q report. CSUN was up 8% Friday.

EFOI down to its 50-days. Buy it if it goes lower or rumbles around where it is or if it starts to go up again. ESLR jumped up 8% Friday. It may be time but probably not. I'm still in FDEI until they prove me wrong. Could be ten times .0075 in 6 months. GCHT one to look at.

JASO up 10% last 3 days. Hit their 200's, now over 50-days. Communist Chinese. (So is ABAT, APWR, CSUN, etc.). So. Do true Americans not buy Chinese companies? You know, institutions or individuals that just care about making money (and even the clean energy) I bet don't care if China is still communist or not. Look at our own American companies with manufacturing facilities in China. How communist is China? What does communism mean these days? Are they intent on stealing everything they can from us? Are they intent on taking over the world and destroying us? Or is business just business? Do they treat workers like slaves? Do they treat the environment like an outhouse? Or are they really changing? I admit it's still something to think about for one who puts the money where the heart and mind is. Will I not talk about the Chinese companies anymore even though there might be lots of money to be made with their stocks? No. I will keep mentioning them as just other stocks and let you make your own decision. My interest is clean energy for the world. And helping finance it with purchasing the right stocks. Besides, the Chinese seem to be changing for the better. So until they demonstrate otherwise, I'll trust but verify.

MDTL jumped up 9% Friday. Eye on PPRW. RSOL is cheap. SPWRA looks ready for a run up. VRNM looks good for gains. VUOC is a great 5-yr buy/hold. WEST won't go down much more or stay down much longer.

Of course, if the market turns down again, all this is out the window. Except the stuff on China.

SATURDAY

(stock #'s in %)

ABAT bounced up off its 200-days. I think this one keeps going up. It's a Chinese company, so valued much lower than American. Just check the price-to-book and price-to-sales and PE's of the Chinese comps v. American, at least in clean energy. Anyway, these guys will probably benefit from the recent Chinese announcement of $15B investment in EV development besides their continual high growth rate. Polymer lithium-ion batteries. This is a good 6-month and beyond investment.

ALTI is an American counterpart. Nano lithium-titanate batteries. Their 50-days slipped underneath the price - at bottom for 2 months. You want a long-term stock to hold for the kids - this is probably one.

AMSC still at bottom of its recent trading range.

APWR reports Thursday before open. Been on its bottom for 3 months. Chinese, so they make a profit (most cases). I think buy it Monday for short-term gain, though it's also a long-term hold.

BYDDF should profit from Chinese EV investment.

CCGI might take off. EV chargers in NYC area and other sites. Wall St is in NYC. Already valued at $94M, but that never stops Wall St. if they like somebody.

CREE.

CSUN - PB (price to book) .93, PS (price to sales) .44, PE (price-earnings ratio) 6.

ECTY on downward spiral. $22M valuation to CCGI's $94M.

ESLR PB .34, PS .41. But maybe years away from profit. And if they reverse split to get back over a buck, the stock almost always come down after split. String ribbon solar but so what if you can't make a profit.

JASO PB 1.18, PS .087, PE 6. Val $925M. Long-term if not short-term good for portfolio.

NACF up 75 on big volume Friday. Gulf spill cleanup. Maybe news coming. Like we never see insider trading.

PPRW reported their Q with good numbers and 150 shares traded Friday. That's how pitiful the attention to clean E is. Same with GCHT a day earlier. Course, that's a Chinese venture.

SOLF PB 1.25, PS .74, PE 6.

SPWRA PB .74, PS .62, PE 8. And that's an American solar. Ever play boggle?

VUOC up 51 Friday.

WWEI 1 cent.

DISCLAIMER or CLAIMER: UR CALL

I'm truly sorry if I seem a stodge or lazy in reporting clean energy. Symbols and numbers. Snore on. Actually, I'm still in awe of the tech and the science and engineering. Even the dam politics. Especially, though, the economics and ecology - what I call ecomonics. I look at comparative evaluations besides real financials, technicals and fundamentals of each company. And there are near 250 I follow, just on NAZ, BB's and Pinks. I am drawn, obviously, to the biggest daily percentage movers. I think that's where money's made. Or lost. But you know I'm also viewing on the 6-month to forever opportunities for our kids and grands. I'm trying to be careful for y'all, but do leave much judgement up to you. I keep it short and expect you to look up these symbols and see what I'm looking at. So, yep, there's work on your part I guess. But forgive please if I'm slow to see what you want to learn here. Otherwise, grab a seat, fasten your seatbelts, feel the cool wind in your face and be ready to learn loops, rolls, and spins.

Ford to power its EV-hybrid production lines with 500kW of solar.

China expected to build 1,000GW of el gen (current US gen) in next 15 yrs. Took us 100. Years.

Mongolia has over 6B barrels of oil, 100B metric tons coal, 60k met tons of U.

Tidal, wave energy: water 800X density of air.

Only 8% of the $2.7B DOE has awarded for energy efficiency has been spent.

FDEI now up 16. So an insider got it at .005 this morn. Nothing new under the sun. Doubled his or her money in one day. Hooray. CBWP up 50. TSPG still up 30. IAUS still up 19. SLTZ up 18. EQST, BSRC up 14. CDTI still up 12. NEWN up 11. Announced today they are going to AMEX.

SLRE down 40. PSRU down 28. I'm thinking buy it. NACF down 25 to their bottom again. $15 to 15 cents in one year. Ouch. AFPW down 21. ELCR down 20. EFOI down 9.

MID AFT

How many days ago was it that I said you could tell your grandkids that you bought BEHL at .003? Well, today it's at .005. Not to toot. I'm not always right (duh). It was July 31. But I toot when I can.

MID DAY

(stock #'s in %)

Trying to look see. EVCA stalled down 50. CBWP down 28. AEGY down 24. FDEI down 12. I put a bid in at .005 and the bid went to .006. FEWP down 10.

BEHL up 69 on news. RGUS up 20. CCTC up 18. SLTZ up 15. EFOI up 13. JASO, SOLF, ECNG up 7.

CLOSE

Pitiful. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

MID DAY

(stock #'s in %)

It's a rout.

AEGY still up 16 for some reason. Or no reason. I wouldn't sell anything today. And by day end there may be real buys.

OPEN

(stock #'s in %)

Dow down 200 on reaction to Fed, t'is being said. I think we just ran out of buyers. And the market is reflecting again the dismal financial news of late.

AEGY up 15. NCEN up 14.

GTLL down 33. MDTL, ECNG down 22. I thought ECNG was topping yesterday. ELCR down 16. MMGW, SOEN down 15. LMCO down 14. CREE down 12 on strong Q report. Their "flaw" was projecting lower revs than the street. SATC, AONE down 10. AONE's Q report was kind of lousy. I would expect them to reach new lows soon. SOLF down 10. JASO down another 5. CSUN down 4.

When the market levels out (may be days), keep your eye on JASO, SOLF, CREE for rebounds.

MID DAY

(stock #'s in %)

ABAT up 5. Great Q report. Should go higher. ECNG up 4. Topping out temporarily? EFOI up 5 more. Another new high. May it take a break? NACF up 33. Oil spill cleaner. ELCR up 50. Who knows? CABN now up 35.

MDTL came back a bunch. FDEI back a little. AXTG down 18. PSRU down 19. WWEI down 12.

And now we wait for the great oracle on top of Mount Fed.

OPEN

(stock #'s in %)

Odd open. Jolt down on not much more volume than yesterday which was dead. Maybe Wall St has inside on the Fed announcement today. Maybe it was just time for a bear bite. Maybe productivity down.

Odd response to JASO, down 9. The only glitch in their Q report was less profit than last Q because of one-time circumstance as I read it. Otherwise, they beat estimates and raised outlook 30%. So, I'm sorry if you bought it on my recommend. Hold it if you did. Or buy more on this dip, though it may take a few days for it to return to moving up. And then, if the market is going back down, it's a longer wait possibly.

SLTZ down 25. Odd open. MDTL down 43. PWAZ down 70 on 100 shares. PSRU down 16. FDEI down 13.

CABN up 27 on news that came out after close yesterday. They had a breakthrough on their natgas-CO2 process to make gasoline. But they say they could produce 138B gallons of gas/yr (present US use) with 23TCF of NG and over .5B tons of CO2 "without competing with current NG use". Huh? US uses 20TCF NG/yr and Energy Dept still says we have ten years left with our own reserve. How would 23TCF/yr not compete with current use? Odd. Odd open.

Dearth of volume is the old standard for mid-August. That's a good sign. Maybe it's calm before storm but everything has been moderated back to reset. Reset 2000. We're lucky we've got the averages we had ten years ago. How long had we been at 1000 Dow before Reagan et al figured out how to get it off the rock. But that's 20 years from 1000 to 10000. So 10 years of "consolidation" isn't absurd. Sure we're impatient. We want money money money. Well, that only happens for Goldman. Ha. Being facetious, as usual.

All I'm saying is let's count our blessings. And THEN may we move forward. With clean energy, nanotech, biotech, whatever tech we got. And new tech. O... I wax pedantic. But really...

Sham lead offs: HYDB up 81 on $200 trade. HYEG up 40 on $900 traded. Who do they think they're kidding? TSPG up 34. Well, they've been up and down. And, actually, seem to have business. RVBF up 32. Maybe the same story. UBRG up 22. CCGI up 19. ASYS up 13. More real deal than others. Jump back to their highs. ACPW up 12. AWNE up 11.

OOGI, CCTC down 29. GTLL down 25. AFPW down 21. WWPW down 21. NCEN, BEHL down 13. BWEN down 12. XSNX down 11.

MID DAY

TSPG up 34. RVBF up 32. CCGI up 22. NGBF up 16.

GTLL down 25. CCTC down 21. OOGI down 20. WNEA down 15. BEHL down 13. BWEN down 12. XSNX down 10.

The market has virtually stopped trading. Waiting for the Fed tomorrow. Who's not on vacation or out of town? Me.

OPEN

(stock #'s in %)

Slight bias up on lower volume in Fed wait. I guess they really did stop naked shorting and institute other rules that help us go up. But. There's still shorting. And fundamentals are still fundamentals.

NGBF up 20. CCGI up 20, but 300 shares. HLXW up 15. MMGW up 13 on Q report that showed no revenue. PSRU up 10. ACPW up another 7.

CCTC down 23 after Friday's jump. Truth probably that the $1B gov investment into clean coal in Illinois has nothing to do with CCTC. MDTL down 20. PSUD down 17. OOGI down 16. BWEN down 14 on lousy Q report, but wind industry expected to have strong 2H. AFPW down 13.

SUNDAY

Just wondering. Why couldn't the political parties run people who have a propensity toward statesmanship and with more wisdom than we get from the average yes man or woman (though I've never seen of them). And then public financing of elections with free equal access to media would entice real debates. I would think the public good would gain more than the cost of financing whatever for their campaigns. I mean, can't we TRY something different? What we have isn't what we want. And it doesn't seem to be working anymore.

Oops, that had nothing to do with clean energy huh. Or as much as anything. And where's the admin response to Buffet and Gates suggesting $15B/Y or some for energy R&D? Clean E's going to happen. The USA should TRY to be out front on all the tech, even though it usually gets stolen anyway.

Saturday, August 7, 2010

SATURDAY

Departing from energy for a moment, NANO was up 24% Friday on a great Q report. This indicates how well some sectors, semiconductor equipment in this case, have recovered and, it seems, augurs well for the economy. Besides the trillions companies are holding in cash. And the maybe $250B still left in the stimulus bill coffers. May we get it going. And get it going right.

AFPW up 43% Friday on news. Good tech. Aluminum-water-catalyst fuel cells. Aluminum is more expensive than Zinc. So I keep wondering why PWAZ with Zinc-air fuel cell tech can't get going. Even air is cheaper than water. So I guess there's more power in the water with it's H2 than there is in air with N2. Zinc is awful cheap though.

Anyway, I can't give you the chart technics on any stocks today, though, because my Yahoo charts are not coming up today and my broker's site is down this weekend for upgrades. Coincidences, A? I could go to microsoft or google I guess but at a point I usually say it's not worth the added aggravation to figure everything out. If even by some stroke of luck there's no monthly fees. Hell, cable service and Yahoo real-time quotes cost enough.

So, back to point (ole Point was a heck of a dog), you should look at AFPW to buy here. Looks like they might be out of their doldrums. But catch it on the comeback. And if it doesn't comeback, o well. There are others.

I still think ALTI is ready to go up.

We have 2 equally-matched (right now) lithium miners: AMEL and AMLM. AMEL seems to have more assets on the balance sheet, though. Well, according to Yahoo. They don't always have it right. And sometimes just plain paid off. Or whatever. If I sound a little angry today I guess you found out. But I don't have it as bad as these 14 MILLION unemployed folks we have to create jobs for because our cash-bound corporations won't. Well, now I guess I'm sounding bitter. Back to clean energy investing.

AMSC just waiting quietly.

Well. Da-da. Yahoo charts now working. Hip hip. Yep. AFPW definitely on eye watch to cross the 50's. I thought so.

When does BCON let the clutch out? Flywheel power stabilization. With wind and solar. Think about it. ACPW seems to have the lead and the rail.

CCTC up 87% Friday on 5X volume. Gotta watch that. Back to clean coal. Maybe Professor Obamanomics has it right with Chu.

CSUN got robbed. I think.

ECNG broke into new ground. One of my top recommendations (aweinc.us). Take a chance. Let's see if this breakout has wheels. At least keep an eye on. I would if I had any extra dough to make more bread.

EFOI's rollin. Earnings out Thursday after close. After close old standard means bad. But they trick people too. And keep inventing new ways. Gotta love Wall St. MM hm. They wanted to give us a depression but fell just o so short. Thank God for the change in administration. If I sound like a damocrat, looks can deceive. I'm an ole bullmooser. Liked Kennedy, Reagan. Go figure. Clinton at least got the fiscal deal right though he rode on the back of the end of the cold war and the unveiling of the internet and then disgraced himself and the office way to go Bill. And I voted for Obamanation. John was too old and Sarah too dense. Let's see, how many more readers can I afford to lose? Politics and business. G, that never works.

I can't do the math anymore on ELCR. But I read that they're making electric cars.

ELON's got to turn around sometime. ENER's making an attempt, sitting on it's 50's.

FDEI. Over $700M in contracts. What the hell is the deal here?

GSPI. Half a cent may be bottom. Cellulosic eth. Ay carumba.

JASO. Here we go again. Earnings out Tuesday morning before open. Chinese solar. Buy Monday.

NEXS. Eye on. SOLF I bet has another move up when JASO reports? I know that's short shrift to the last half of the alphabet but there's enough in the first half to chaw on for at least a week.

Vaya con Dios pards.

Est. 5M barrels of oil spilled from the well in the Gulf. Thank God it's over.

MID AFT

(stock #'s in %)

Check GTLL. Are we witnessing the destruction of a scam? Or the destruction of a company trying to bring out vertical axis windmills? Well, it was down 50.

Now, CCTC up 38. Are they the recipients of Obama's $1B for clean coal tech announced Thursday in Illinois. Can it be any more political? He is from Illinois. Who's cleaning up all the puke?

Now we have Buffett and Gates getting billionaires to give half their money to charity. Why don't they pool their money to make a dam company that will hire these 8M or more Americans out of work to build something that makes sense.

MID DAY

(stock #'s in %)

Market now down triple digits. More accurately reflecting the job news.

GTLL came all the way back down. So did most that were up early. FSYS adding 5. That makes sense. SOLR adding 1. Ditto. SOLF may have sufficiently covered Tuesday's gap up. Buy. CSUN down 7, making double bottom today. Buy. PWAZ up only 162 now. NACF up 14. FDEI, NCEN, CCTC up 10. NEXS adding another 6. Sense. EFOI up 8.

Course, PWAZ up 218 on a $500 trade. NACF up 14. KEPI up 11. CCGI up 10. ECNG up another 9. I'd say catch it, especially if it comes back.

ELCR down 20. Same story as GTLL - 3 zeros. POWR down 10 after good Q report. Nuts. NCEN, SOEN down 10. NPWZ off 12 from yesterday's jump. And CSUN down 4 after their good Q. Makes no sense.

OK. Here's part of where we are. Our great senate of the US gave up on the remains of an energy bill. When or how will we get a Congress with statesmanship and vision of it. Or something better than this. Those last two were questions I think.

Here's where we are. Arizona approved their 1st 32 qualified solar installers. Ever.

Here's where we are. Grown in ponds, algae C footprint is 4.5X lower than present petrodiesel. In bioreactors, it's 3.7X higher.

Here's where we are. Coal is 70% of China's power. They're adding to their oil reserves. Who isn't.

Here's where we are. World Bank now says biofuels only caused 1/3rd of food price rise, about face on their '08 analysis that it was 3/4 the cause. '00-'08 grain prices doubled. The US $6B/Y subsidy for biofuels is being looked at. Yea, let's look at that.

Here's where we are. One study says EV's reduce GHG's/mile by 50% over infernal combustion engines. I assume that's based on our current power mix: 50% coal, 20% nuke, ~20% NG and the rest clean). 50% is low hanging fruit.

Here's where we are. Stanford engineers have figured out how to combine the heat with the light of the sun to double the efficiency of solar panels. Hear here.

And here's where we are. NPWZ up 40. MKTY up 33. PWAZ up 23. That's the fuel cell developers. TSPG up 20. Solar. FSYS, NEXS up 17. SOLR, ECNG up 12. ALTI up 11. PLUG up 10.

And this is this. AFPW down 30. AQNM down 33. NGBF, RVBF down 25. Next gen biofuels as far as I know, as is AQNM I think. WWPW down 20. Small wind developer with real contracts and projects in development as far as I know. But we have to love the market and Wall St. For without Wall St. by God where would we be. UBRG down 18. Looking for the next SOLF for us. Trying to get a look around the next bend. What's coming besides stifling heat and a record 2 inch - diameter?! - hailstone in S Dakota. Or political cacophony. O we have confidence and hope and belief that we can fix our economy and grow on. What other choice is there. Yep, a lot of problems in housing, jobs, debt, name it. But we still are the USA. And there's still a chance we can run things with intelligence, wisdom, knowledge, patience and understanding. A chance. Hopefully, a good chance.

EARLY

Two quarters in a row of declining GDP. We're in the double dip.

SOLF reports tomorrow at 8AM. Consider buying it today. Their 2Q numbers will probably be good, but one caveat might be their guidance considering Spain has now cut PV solar subsidies from 5% to 45% and other Euro countries are also cutting theirs. Then again, SOLF's numbers may be really good and the stock will bust through the $11 level.
