THE STUFF

China closing or nationalizing dozens of rare earth metal producers that supply LED market. Business is war. So is politics. So is war. Hay, it's life. But we'll have to see how this affects our LED makers.

The day Obama stopped EPA ozone ruling he also delayed release of EPA assessment of health risks from TCE - trichlorothylene. That doesn't sound healthy.

A Virginia court ruled insurance doesn't cover global warming claims. How about duck and cover?

More people in recent poll believe in climate change, but fewer think it's man-made. Huh.

A Spanish company got $1.2B DOE loan guarantee. O, I bet we see more on this.

FERC approved 2 more Marcellus pipeline projects. Scientists also reported that fracking threatens drinking water in letter to NY gov. My understanding is the aquifers are above where the fracking happens. But there's some concern of the piping delivering the fracking liquid may leak while passing through the aquifer.

Leaking pipeline in Louisiana was sealed.

US '11 floods cost an estimated $2B. So said that report.

Our parties - yep, our 2 wonderful political parties - clashed this week over disaster funding. Republicans want clean tech cuts. They want to stop a $1.5B program advancing EV's and hybrids to provide $1B in emergency aid to states reeling from natural catastrophes.

Continuing drought  threatens more wildfires and the winter wheat crop in TX. 97% of the state is in extreme drought.

1st Chinese-built car now for sale in America.

And walruses are stuck on shore because of melted ice. Polar bears too, probably, huh.

Happy trails, pards.

O, by the by, you could have made 10% today on BWEN if you had bought it when I mentioned it this morning and sold it already.
