STUFF

Fossil fuel industry benefited past 3 decades from master limited partnerships that exempt investors from some corp income taxes. Clean/renewable energy was specifically left out of MLPs. But that's set to change. And if it does, they will have access to capital at lower cost and more liquidity.

Arch Coal laid off 500 workers.

Cal PUC approved SDG&E $435M substation project. 2 500/230/138KV substations to boost reliability, accomodate delivery of ~1.7GW of new clean E. Modernizing 50-year old station. Construction starts later this year.

US Geothermal subsid USG Nevada brought 8.6MW unit online for NV Energy. Power being sold for 9 cents/KWh with 1% annual escalator. $11M cash grant helped finance.

Campbell Soup completed 9.8MW solar system at Ohio plant. SPWR panels. 15% of plant's power demand. By '20, Campbell aims to reduce power use 35% per ton of product made.

T. Bone Pickens: can't finance wind power unless NG $6 or above. Still wants US's 8M big rigs running on NG. That would decrease >3mb/d of US oil demand. He said Koch Brothers got his plan blocked in Congress. They use NG for fertilizer, chem biz. Says we will get to NG trux in 10 years because of market forces. But can get there 5 years earlier with a little govt help.
