STUFF

Oil hit $100. NYMEX I guess. WTI. Not Brent. Libya's little civil war. From their little minded dictator. The world is getting tired of dictators. You think. Oil tanker still getting filled up at Libyan port today, one account.

Onward. ND windfarm planning to increase capac by 105MW to 185. Bison 2 project of MN power. Late '12 online. $160M. Also, a 345kw power line, online in '13. MN has 25% by '25 clean E mandate. 2 more 150MW farms pending.

UN report says spending 2% of global GDP/yr into green E would deliver long-term stability. ~$1.3T/y. Also phase out >$600B/y in global fossil subsidies and >$20B/y subsidies for unsustainable fisheries.

Zenith Solar (Israel) signed MOU with China for devel of combined heat/power solar for China. To build 2 10MW plants at edge of Gobi in '11. CHP gets 72% efficiency.

Abengoa to build 100M gal/yr cellulos eth plant in KS. Enzymatic hydrolysis. Successful trials at Spain pilot plant. I'm not sure. Does that take away from traditional topsoil replenishment from leftover plants after harvest that we use to plow back into the ground? Are our governments thinking clearly enough on this? Or getting bagged and tagged by the chemical fertilizer industry? I just wonder. That's what I do. And report. Sometimes in awe.

Ukraine biofuel exports were up 63% in '10 to 573k met tons. Mostly pellets, briquettes from wood, sunflower husks, grain straw. Again. Topsoil replenishment. Where will it come from?

Brookhaven National Lab (that's us) study says jatropha oil burns well for powergen. <3% S content of heating oil.

FDIC: our banks earned >$21B in 4Q. Fidelity: avg 401k balances @ 10 yr high. I guess t'ings aren't all that bad?

Trail on pards.
