It's getting so stupid I don't know what to tell you tonight.

SSHO up 30. AFPW up 24. NCEN up 21. CSGH up 18. ALTI, HOKU up 10 at least understandable. CPTC up 9. SOPV up 7. BCON, JASO, ENOC up 2. Believe me, there was crazier stuff we're supposed to figure out.

GRGR down 75. I guess we saw that coming. XPGH down 40. Who cares. SSOL down 36 on insane volume. CBWP down 28. CYBL down 20. PSPW down 17 more. UBRG down 10. NG at best. Not real clean E. XSNX down 8. FDEI down 6. I cannot understand. $1B in the pipe.

The end of the year. The cleanup by the funds. Who knows what the hell goes on in those Wall St. offices at the end of the year. Sure shows up as stink out here. O. Maybe I get negative too much sometimes. God bless us and our amazing country, A?

Zacks gave JASO a strong buy rating. What the hay, they're on their 200-day lines. I say ENOC too. JASO up 1. ENOC up 3.

HOKU got commitment from Chinese bank to complete their Idaho polysilicon plant. Up 15.

China cracking down on illegal/rogue/crime syndicate rare earth minerals mining biz. And I hear Molycorp is going gangbusters.

What the heckywho is going on in Cal solar?! One week after S. Cal Ed abruptly canceled a 5-yr-old contract to buy el from Tessera Solar's 663MW Calico solar Sterling dish project on 4k acres of gov Mojave land Tessera sold it to K Road Power. Yea, and they are? Tessera had been struggling to raise $4.6B needed to build Calico and 700MW Imperial Valley plant near Mex border. K Road says now they will use tried and true PV but make it 850MW with 100MW Stirling tech. That's more than the license allows. Cal E Commission, BLM will have to sign off. Plus now there's the lawsuit and no committed buyer of the el. Oy that vay.

NOAA: 2010 hottest year on record. Artic sea ice a stunning December low. Despite deepest solar minimum in a century.

No US builders - yet - of seagoing vessels needed to erect, maintain the wind turbines expected to go up in Atlantic and Great Lakes. Jones Act prevents vessels made elsewhere from servicing US ports. Expected cost $150-220M/vessel, 2 years to build. Could convert oil/gas industry vessels. But when you go to the bank for $200M+ you can't do too well when tax credits (US energy policy) only go 1-2 years at a time.

And such is our world.

Xcel Energy's 210MW wind farm in SW MN now online. Now developing 150MW farm in ND. They use near 1.5GW (equiv to a humongous coal plant) wind power from upper midwest.

Calif earlier this year launched an incentive program for solar water heaters. NY started a program earlier this month. . Both states also have incentives for solar el systems and hybrid systems can claim incentives from both programs. What about all our southern and sunny states?

Seoul started el bus service. 5 buses so far. 52 miles on charge. Can charge in 30 min. 240kw motor. Li-ion batts, regen braking. Body out of C composites. Hyundai.

La Cuna de Aztlan Nation, Californians for Renewable Energy and 5 individuals filed suit Monday in US District Court in San Diego against 6 solar plant projects. Not enough respect for burial grounds, history, etc.

Muni offices in St. Cloud MN first in US to install light-com system in place of wi-fi. Uses LEDs that flick thousands of times per second for binary code to special modems/computers and connect to internet at about residential DSL speed now (~3gbs), but LVX Systems says it'll get faster. Savings on lighting costs pays for internet service. Is this an amazing country or what? Are our brains amazing or what?

Former Shell Oil prez: w/in decade US into big time energy shortages if we stay on present course. Sees $5/gal by '12. O what's new. What about those huge oil reserves in Cal's central valley that drilling tech has caught up to at $80 oil? Oil industry plans capital budgets in 3-year cycles. So deepwater moratorium has affected investments. O do dah day.

A startup has found a way to economically recycle nylon carpet. 4B lbs of carpet thrown away in US every year. Does this stuff amaze you as much as me? 5 lbs of oil (over .5 gal) goes into 1 lb of nylon. So, could save millions of bls oil/yr. The company can make recycled carpet for less than present costs, breakeven ~$50 oil. CA has recycling fees on carpet. 4 states considering. EU bans carpet in landfills, so it's burned (15k BTUs in 1 lb). But, carpet makers are switching away from nylon to cheaper PET (whatever that is).

World cumulative installed wind capacity went from 20GW in '00 to 160GW in '09. GW=coal plant. Yay world.

Earlier, export taxes were raised again to 25% from 15% for some of the most crucial REs and some that were not taxed before now taxed. WTO prohibits export quotas or tariffs except for enviro protection or national security. China says pollution concerns on RE mining are sincere. They're retiring older mines/techs. But the reasoning is they want to force manufacturers that use REs to move to China.

A LOOK-SEE

ADES took off out of $5 mid-Dec. Now almost $10. Who saw that coming? Mercury and other pollutant controls for coal plants. Good stuff. Cleaner E. Big jump in most recent Q revs but yearly revs not much jump. Avg P/B, P/S. Small float though. Maybe that's it. I should have called it for ye's when they jumped over their 50's and 200's. Anyway, only a double in 2 weeks.

ACPW made another new high. Out of 80 cents in July to $2.60. One heck of a rally. Revs picking up. Back up power systems. Flywheels.

AEIS Friday jumped out of their 50-days up to their last 200-day. Power management. Big pick up last Q in revs, and made profits all latest 4 Q's. $600M val.

And I keep taking glances over to Paul Brown Stadium where the Browns are here to beat the Bengals. Upper stands maybe 1/4 filled. What a shame. Gotta watch Giants-Eagles.

AFPW up 13% Friday. $13T revs last Q. Thousands, not trillions.

And it makes you wonder who the hell is fighting this company in the stock market and why.

FDEI buyable at 1 cent again today. I did. Right on its bottom-most day line (a 200). Well, wonders never cease. Some idiot - or the market maker addicted to volume - just traded at .009. Down 25%. This seems a little out of whack now. That's when to buy. Course, you might be able to get less than a cent. O man, they hit .0086. This is nuts. Really nuts. It's the fear of doubt that this company is for real. So check out their news. Check the fundamentals. Check out the charts. And then it comes down to trust and faith. 1:45 it's back to a penny. 2:14 I'm livid. It's at .008. I could have bought easy at .009 now. I just don't understand why something like this can happen. Course, we still have a wild west. But come on folks. This is happening on just a few hundred thousand shares at a time. Now back to .009. Jeeze Louise Murphy. Now .0083. Down 30%. Give me a frackin break.

FCEL crossed over their 200-day lines and now up 14%. Revenues were down and they still lose money every quarter. Go figure.

2:28 back to .009.

SOLR breaking out of their recent downline.

2:21. I truly can't believe this. You can buy FDEI at .085 right now. Gotta wonder who's doing all the selling. Kind of like HLXW back to .0011. But they don't have a BILLION dollars in the pipe as FDEI does. I guess it's just the selling to the guys who get the golden goose ride. The sweetheart deals. I hope some widows and orphans got some of it.

2:43. And what thrusts the dagger into the brain is SOEN up 53. TSPG up 46. KEPI up 40. But. You gotta love the market. Gotta.

2:48. I think with the volume comes the money for the market maker. I'm not sure. Is that right? You move the stock big percent quick. Do dah? Well, can't get too bitter short term.

3:11. Can you feel my pistoftness. FDEI .087. Down 27.5. Man do you guys get a deal. On my bux. I hope you frackin take it.

3:28. Back to one penny.

3:50. FCEL up 20%. What the hell.

Fed judge granted Quechan Nation request to temp halt work on NTR subsid Tessera Solar's 709MW solar plant in Imperial Valley Cal. DOI failed to adequately consult Tribe (burial grounds, etc.) before approval. Tessera's 664MW Calico plant also on hold. Financing challenges, $2B/plant. NTR wrote down solar dev biz by $127M.

Groups also suing to block Solargen's Panoche Valley Cal plant. FSLR's Topaz plant also has opposition, San Luis Obispo County takes it up in March. Some kind of a fox in jeopardy. And SPWR's proposed Cal Valley Solar Ranch may endanger giant kangaroo rats. Hm. Giant jumpin rats. Also a San Luis Obispo look-see in Jan.

Two New Mexico solar projects breaking grounds. Xcel E broke earth Wednesday on a 54MW PV plant to be built/operated by SunEd sub of MEMC. NM utils under mandate of 15% clean E by '15, 20 by '20. SW Public Service to pay 10 cents/kwh 1st yr, increase of 3.3%/yr over 20 yr contract. NRG Energy to start 20MW PV plant near Santa Teresa before yearend. FSLR to provide engineering, construction. El Paso El to pay 12.7 cents/kwh over 20 yrs.

Our esteemed Senate Wednesday passed a 1-yr extension of 1603 tax grant program for clean E in the tax compromise bill. (Um, stimulus bill). (The 1603 was covered here in stuff last Thursday.) But we really don't want to keep making energy policy one year at a time do we? Does business like that? ANY business?

In '08-'09, we now discover our illustrious Fed provided ~$3.3T in liquidity and over $9T in short-term loans and other financial arrangements, even overseas. Disclosure now required by Dodd-Frank bill. US monetary base will have expanded 4x by the time this latest quantitative easing is done. European banks carrying 5x gov debt v. 3 yrs ago. US banks carrying ~$350B euro debt.

63 nuke reactors currently in construction in world. 1 in US. 26 in China. I wonder what the Chinese answer to nuke waste is. Or afraid to ask. Just kidding, China. I kid. I make light. Or try.

At coal/NG power plants, fuel is up to 3/4 of the costs. Nukes its ~1/4 (including waste, enrichment). U ~$60/lb now. Hit $136 in '07.

According to NREL, PV on all US roofs could provide 22% of our el demand.

Happy trails to ye and all yours.

Abound Solar, using same tech as FSLR, got a $400M loan guarantee from DOE and $110M more in equity financing. Plant now in CO, new one in IN to be largest solar plant in US @ 640MW/y. It was the 2nd loan quarantee to a solar company. 1st was Solyndra. Abound has a simpler manufacturing process than FSLR. Uses 1/3 the space. But still at $1.25-$1.50/w v. FLSR's 80 cents. Promise of the tech is 50 cents/w v. crystaline @ $1. Loan and added equity still not enough for Abound's IN plant. Doh.

Earth's core may have another layer. A new outermost layer of core found. May solve mysteries of the mag field. Lighter elements like O and S migrated out from core over time. Spin of core thought to power the field. But the lighter liquid rose up, imparting energy down, driving the core flow, which helped keep the field running. Gotta love science and engineering. Especially the Almighty's.

Global warming is in a temporary halt. Natural cycles. And we're not talking winter.

Worldwide fossil fuels get 12x the subsidies of clean E. In '09 Exxon spent more on lobbying than the entire clean E industry. We've talked about this.

NREL generated 2 energetic electronic states from 1 photon. The 1st molecular system to produce 2 triplet states from an excited singlet state w/ essentially perfect efficiency. Sounds like something exciting going in some state. Could be 35% increase in solar efficiency. And there's more but I even couldn't understand my notes. Work to do there.

Japan 3Q revised up to 4.5%.

Excelon will close US' oldest nuke in '19, 10 yrs ahead of sked so they won't have to build cooling towers at disputed cost ($200-800M) but can continue to kill billions of shrimp, crabs, fish and other aqua creatures, let alone the plankton out of Barnegat Bay for 10 more yrs. I'm sure you saw this. American homes worth $1.7T less this year than last. '09 drop was $1T. Total loss since '06 $9T. They did go up one hell of a lot before '06, let us remember that.

Jefferies believes fears about German solar biz slowdown is overblown and found the Germs still committed to 18% clean E by '20. No solar cap in '11 but they want to prevent a 10GW boom in '11 and freefall in '12. Among the picks: SATC, JASO.

FSLR announced a 15MW sale to India. Piper Jaff believes FSLR will guide higher on the 14th. SPWR has booked $100M in the last month and announced another today.

US Tax Grant Program - "1603" - has spent $1.3B to leverage $18B in 1179 clean E projects in 42 states to date. Set to expire end of year. Created jobs in all 50 states. Solar employs 93k in US. 60k more in next few yrs they say if 1603 extended. Wind industry to be flat or down if not extended. May be a fight there too.

Well, pards. Keep thy powder dry and thy heads held high.

CSOL up 22. OOGI up 16. LEOM came back 14 from yesterday's fall. ZAAP up 13, looks like resuming its climb. OOIL up 7. Yesterday announced progress on their algae development. Up off their 50-day lines on big volume. One to have for the long haul. XDSL up 9. CGYV up another 9. VLNC up 8. Back above their 50-days, continuing their rally that started early Sept. NENE up another 3. ENOC got over $28 to start closing that gap from last month (also hit their 50's) and came back under $27.

So. We ended up. The Fed sees to it.

If you bought FDEI in the morning after I recommended it, well, you would be up. And the PSPW bid came up.

NENE plummeted all of 10% at the open and ended up up 1. LSCG up 7. ASTI up 2. DSTI down 8. The solar comers. As I see it. Besides FDEI and PSPW and some mores. GCHK down 11. Hydrogen additive to engines. Not sure of the tech yet. Hell, who is. HLXW down 14 on 14M shares. Hm. Serendipity? NPWZ up 7.

Last paragraph getting a little long in the tooth.

GSPI down 18. Cellulosic I think. AVAV up 15 on new biz. ZAAP down another 5. SLTZ ended up down 36. Check that out. I would have bought the bottom had I funds. CBWP up 66 on 20k shares. CGYV up another 8. I guess they are going for a tenspot. If U git my gist. ECNG down 4. I think they're getting ready for a boom. ESLR down another 5. Will they survive?

FTEK up 11. Something else to evaluate. But not today. LEOM down 30. Leo Motors. Oy. MMMW up 13. Hay. Wind power. Yoy. RGUS up 13. SOLR up 20. This was the kahuna of the day. URRE down another 9. Nukes not getting enough gov money, nat gas prices down, no price for C emissions yet.

WBRE down 45. WTWO up 12.

And I am into the wind. Roger that. Time for some take off action.

STUFF

Currently, cellulosic ethanol gets the 45 cent/gal ethanol tax credit (refineries get the credits for blending ethanol) plus a 56 cent credit until the end of '12. The Renewable Fuel Standard Act requires ethanol blends at increasingly higher amounts (25% by '15). The current subsidies for regular ethanol expire at the end of this year. And I bet Congress is going to have a battle over that. And word is it would cost more per job saved than the job pays if the credits are extended. Besides all the wrong reasons for ethanol.

Moving onward. We know pollution kills. Well, a report by DARA says climate change will kill 5M more people by '20 and the rate goes up after that. 350k/yr now. Desertification, extreme weather events, agri effects, etc. By '30 (yeah like we're going to be here), US will suffer most econ loss of any nation - ~$40B/yr. Pshaw, what's $40B. Especially in '30. Now the globe is losing $150B/yr to it. Bottom line. Pollution kills and so does climate change from pollution.

US Supreme Court to hear global warming case. Right of states to regulate C emissions as "public nuisance". Brought by 8 states, NYC and environmental groups. From Connecticut v. AEP.

France's Areva signed major contracts with India's Nuclear Power Corp for 2 new reactors, first of 6. I thought the US was working with India on nuke development. O well. France is 80% nuke.

Wi-fi thermostats now at Home Depot. Under $100. Radio Thermostat Company of America. Let's invent. And sell it to the world.

Hertz adding EV's to NYC fleet. Ford starting to ship its electric delivery van. GM hiring 1000 to engineer more EV's.

Czech gov to halve their Feed-In Tariffs (FIT) for PV installs over 30kw in '11. Will have over 1.2GW installed v. 50MW 2 years ago. Electric rates have shot up and grid instabilities. CZ was one of top 5 national markets this year. But their FITs were too high relative to other countries and they are close to reaching their '20 goal way ahead of sked. Italy and Spain cut back more kindly.

55MW Sempra solar farm 40 miles SE of Vegas now largest plant online in US. 775k FSLR panels. 380 acres. Construction began first of year with 350 workers. And it cost how much?

Suntech (STK I think - I don't follow NYSE) predicting 46% growth in shipments (2.2-2.4GW) in '11. Shipped 1.5 in '10.

GAO: oil/gas operations could economically capture about 40% of flared or vented NG on Fed land to boost govt royalties by $23M/y. O&G on public lands (US) generated ~$9B royalties in '09.

Switch to efficient lighting could save US $9B/y and remove equiv 11M cars GHGs. Could save $5.5B in China (lighting ~12% el use). Incandescents now about 70% of sales. Outlawed I think by '12 here. In Indonesia the switch could save need for 3.5 coal plants.

Hel, 2:40PM EST it's closed. And I'm just gittin mo pissed up every moment. FDEI with $1B in contracts and news abounding this week still valued at $6M and dead in the water. And someone like CRGE going up another 4 at $200M evaluation with no income and not as much in the pipeline. Well, valuations and such according to Yahoo Finance and Wall St. Maybe there's better finance sites. But everything's relative. Especially during the holydays.

Moving on, VUOC up 20 now. I think I mentioned them recently. It's not that I want you to listen to me it's just please listen to me. I am trying my bestestest to make us some money in clean energy. I'm just doing all this to get attention. Yea. I even got stupidly out of FDEI. Sold half at .0132 earlier. Just watching the chart and feelin. And now I could get .0135. They are frackin with our minds. I'm tellin ya.

VUOC now up 17. GCHK up 27. Here's another bandit. I think they have some kind of fuel additive they're trying to market. I cant tell yet if it's bogus or good. GSPI up 16. Came back like I predicted a couple days ago.

PWAZ back down 60. What the hell is their story? Zincair fuel cells I think. Seems to me most economical. Maybe comical. Maybe not enough power from it? Like Boron and Sodium. Cheap stuff but no power. Who knows? POTUS?

SESI down 41. $4M in revs last Q according to Yahoo. SOPV down 12. SSOL down 10. A big downgrade from some Wall St house on Chinese solars. Tesla down to $31.

US companies earned $1.66T last Q. That's profits. That's $6T for a year, twice the fed budget. And if you hire 10M folks at avg $40k/yr (I think below median) you would spend $400B. What, 7.5% of corp profits or so? Something is really cold here. Hearts? Besides, don't employees add to your potential for growth? Let alone our country. Just thinkin.

Interior plans to fast-track process for offshore wind. What if the wind turbines suck all the wind out of the atmos? I know. They won't suck it all. But what is the wind loss after going through turbines? Climate change studies are needed.

US ethanol subsidies $7.7B in '09. Expire Dec 31. It takes 29% more fossil fuel energy to make ethanol from corn than the amount of fuel produced. And how long has this not been making any sense besides driving up food costs? Since presidential candidates have been sucked into Iowa primaries maybe. Switch grass takes 45% more. I recall W's mention of switchgrass in one state of the union.

Pretty busy day in clean E-ville despite the mart's low holiday volume. Dow, of course, came back 150. I'm going to try to separate out the comps I think you should seriously consider and put them in a first tier then give you a second tier. Maybe a third.

1st tier:
FDEI ended up 14. Got down to .0102 tho. Between 200-day lines on 12 month chart. ZAAP ended up 14. Again, double topping maybe. CREE up 10. Peekin over its last 200-day line. May be a look see next couple sessions on any pullback. They're talking LED breakout for '11. Why I prefer LSCG, flat today, or EFOI, up 1, or VUOC, up 9. VLNC up 9. Broke their one month downswing and went through their 50-days. VSPC up 8, broke through their 50's (under their 200's). ELON up 8. COMV up 4, may be starting a climb. Bigger brother ENOC lost 1, stayed below $24. ABAT up 3, may be breaking out of its holding pattern. TSLA up 2 more. Hell, almost doubled in a month?! Yup. URRE up 1 more, a 6x out of August. HLXW came back 20% from whence I mentioned it this morning.

SSOL down 40. They had $2M revs 2Q and forecasting double dig growth. If I had more funds... BFRE down 18. Cellulosic eth. Slight dip under 50's, above 200's. Again, funds. CABN down 16. I think starting a climb. BCON it says down 12, but that was maybe a closing number. Maybe ended flat. Just starting a bottoming phase I think. AMEL down 11. Building for a climb. I think. ECOS down 10. It will bottom sometime someprice. AFPW, NPWZ down 9. Both developing fuel cells, AFPW already to market, NPWZ close behind. NPWZ better tech/cost. I think. SLTZ down 8. Still never herd if they got Buda Solar or not. IFXY down 3. Grid new tech, deal with ITRI. NENE flat.

2nd tier:
WBRE up 66 on 500 shares. I wouldn't want to be that buyer right now. CLTH up 40. PSRU up 25. AXTG up 20 (bought them first of the year at 10 cents and went to 17 cents). PPRW up 18. WWPW up 17 on 1k shares. CCGI up 15. SSHO up 12. OOIL, AWNE up 11.

GCHK down 27. RNNM down 23.

And finally the hoodaythunkits:
ZEON up 1900 on 1k shares. I hope that wasn't me. MMBF up 100 on 33k shares. And PWTC up 100 on 16M shares. Someone to check.

I had a stuff to write but had a long walk and cooked up some chicken veg brown rice soup and my brother called. So probably tomorrow on that. Happy T day eve y'all.
