STUFF

OK quakes too powerful to be from fracking.

Huge shale oil discovery (for Argentina) by Spain's Repsol. 76M bls of oil, more, of course, in NG.

Global LEED certification (green buildings) expected to reach 2B sq. ft. in '12. Registrations up 53% overseas, 39% in US in past year, but certifications only up 3%. >1/3 all LEED ever certified done in '11.

Global wind capacity reached 215GW by mid-'11. 18GW added 1H11, 15% more than '10. 23% capacity growth in past year. 9% growth in 1H11. China, US, Germany, Spain, India ~74% of capacity. Another 25GW expected 2H11.

IEA: world will lose chance to limit global warming without bold action next 5 years. E efficiency has worsened last 2 years. Subsidies for fossil fuels now >$400B/y. They also said EU will overtake US as biggest oil importer by '15, China will surpass by '20. Finally, they say energy will become "viciously" more expensive and more polluting if world doesn't install more clean E (including nuke) in next 2 decades.

EPA study: When ozone levels declined 10 ppb - level proposed by EPA - worker productivity was up 4.2%. I think what they're really saying is when transportation and industry fall off, workers get busier to hold onto their jobs.

Interior's 5-yr offshore drilling plan to make 75% of US undiscovered oil reserves on outer continental shelf avaliable for development.

More tomorrow. I'm bushed.
