Austin Energy paying operating costs for 100Mw wood waste power plant just 7 months old. The plant hasn't been producing el for AE because it's el is too expensive (compared to NG).

Shell thinks use of LNG will double to 400M tons by '20. 500M possible by '25. Will require industry investment of $700B worldwide. Shell and Exxon produce more NG than oil. Pike Research expects LNG truck sales to grow 17%/y next 6 yrs. CNG truck sales 14%. 930K NG trucks total '12-'19.

Cape Wind back in line for DOE loan guarantee. $2B request shelved in '11 because of lack of progress. DOE reconsidering, though reportedly for smaller amount. Est. $2.6B Nantucket Sound project targeting construction start by yearend. PPA's for over 70% of projected output.

Late last year, ND produced 750Kb/d of oil. Producing more than Ecuador (OPEC member). Bakken formation spans 200K sq mi in ND, MT, Canada. (TX 262K sm.) Dow in '74 said Bakken capable of producing 10B bls. In '82, UND grad student said HC potential ~92B. Data crunch on that by '83 brought it up to 132B. In '99, USGS geochemist put it at 271-503B. 1st horizontal well drilled in '87 by Meridian Oil.

Jamaica's solar industry getting major boost from US Solar Institute. Island going to net metering. 2-yr pilot project to bring solar, wind to 2% of country's total energy output. Peak demand 683Mw as of '10.
