Over past decade, EPA allegedly has paid hundreds of folks $12/hr to expose them to high levels of air pollutants @ UNC's School of Med (paid > $33M since '04). Fed lawsuit filed over it. Subjects allegedly weren't apprised of risks. Congress passed National Research Act in '74, aimed at protecting human test subjects.

Lone Pine Resources - Del comp HQ'd in Calgary - using NAFTA argument to protest Quebec's fracking ban. Notice of intent to sue Canada, seeking $250M in damages. NAFTA Chap 11 allows US, Mex comps to sue Canada (or vice versa) if they have been abused by govt policy.

NG industry attacking scientists after research found 3x normal levels of ambient methane at Australia coal seem gas fields. Queensland govt already approved > $60B of CSG projects. Comps converting CSG to LNG. 10-40% of wells to undergo fracking.

Shell Australia opened biodiesel plant in Sydney, hoping to be 1st to sell B20 there to fleets.

SEE Algae Tech (Austria) building 2.5 acre factory on Brazil sugar plantation. Will use gen mod algae that eats CO2 from sugar. Add urea, nutrients, remove water and ethanol is excreted.

Japan signed rare earths dealio with India. Japan to import ~4K tons/yr from India. Spring start. Japan used to rely 100% on China until their imbroglio over an island. India will provide ~10% of Japan demand. Japan also planning imports from Australia and Kazakhstan.
