US deficit was $1.3T in '11. Remember when we were paying down $5T?

W. Buffett: if you took all the gold in the world it would make a 67-foot cube. It would be worth ~ $7T. And it would be worth ~1/3 the value of all US stocks.

World's largest chip contract manufacturer - Taiwan Semiconductor (TSMC) - has outfitted its first CIGS thin-film solar factory and plans to begin shipping in 1Q12. 100MW initially. Plans for 300MW with $258M investment. Longterm 1GW by '15. Stion (Silicon Valley) tech since $50M investment in '10. CIGS primer: copper, indium, gallium, selenium and a bit of sulfur. Solar Frontier in Japan already has 900MW CIGS factory that began running early this year. Hyundai announced plan last year for 400MW CIGS factory in Korea with French partner. Korea's SK Group recently pumped $50M into HelioVolt (CIGS tech) in TX.

EDP Renewables chose GE to service entire fleet of 402 1.5MW GE wind turbines.

Gamesa's offshore 5MW prototype set for US install off MD in 4Q12.

NH rebates up to $4,500 have returned for wind, solar home installs.

Maersk (Norfolk shipping line - unit of Denmark comp) teaming up with Apex Offshore Wind for utility-scale offshore wind.

Looks like offshore wind is coming to the US east coast.
