STUFF

American subsid of Enel Green Power turned on 200MW Kansas wind farm. 1.8MW turbines. $350M cost. TVA will buy the power on 20-year PPA. Comp now has 986MW installed wind cap.

4 US makers of wind turbine towers filed complaint over China and Vietnam steel subsidies. 60% tariffs sought. Largest towers sell in $600K range. Tower imports from China, Vietnam roughly doubled in '11. BWEN involved. Commerce Dept has 20 days to initiate investigation. ITC will hold hearings in 3 weeks. And the trade war grows.

US fed judge ruled Calif's Low Carb Fuel Standard interferes with "maintenance of national economic union unfettered by state-imposed limits on interstate commerce". May stop Calif importing Brazilian ethanol (lower carb than domestic US) and Nebraska (et al) exporting eth to Brazil. The shipping - unnecessary (very dirty) emissions and waste of fuel - is the issue. Good call, judge, looks like.

DOE said their Joint Bio Energy Institute achieved major breakthrough in engineering systems of RNA molecules that could help development of cheaper advanced biofuels.

USDA deregulated Monsanto's 1st-generation drought-tolerant corn. Farm trials in '12.

And that's the final Friday nuze. It's been an honor to report to you pards. I will keep trying to do it better to give you more of what you want and need to know in clean energy and all energy and even not energy. Thank you for coming and reading.

And HAPPY TRAILS IN '12! WOO HOO!
