STUFF

Obama setting up interagency task force to ensure safe, responsible fracking (even though regulated at state level). "Feds have important role on fed lands."

IEA: oil market has broken 2-year cycle of tightening supply conditions.

Washington will become 1st state to charge fee on EV's (for highway maintenance/construction).

Utility CEO: utilities risk building too many NG plants, leaving imbalanced grid.

Germany's largest utilities to increase solar investments.

Entergy: Vermont Yankee nuke will operate at least 5 more years.

Unusual wear on San Onofre (Calif) reactor tubes continues to worry officials. Let alone the plant's on a fault line and in possible tsunami zone, huh?

WalMart heirs may beef up oversight at FSLR. Pretty much their baby, if you didn't know.

Iran concealing destinations of oil sales by disabling tanker fleet's tracking systems.

World economy doubled in last 10 years. One of those quiet facts.

US wind power industry installed 6.8GW in '11. 31% over '10. Total 47GW installed. Wind provided ~3% of total el used in '11. Wind was 31% of new power plant construction, NG 42%. >8.3GW of wind power now under construction. No projects on the table for '13, though (uncertainty over year-end extension of subsidies).

US added 91MW of geothermal power in past year. Total now 3.2GW. Calif has 2.6GW online, 2GW in pipeline. NV has 59 projects in development. Projects take 4-5 years to complete. Govt policies need to be more forthcoming in light of that. It's a 24/7 clean energy. We should be developing more.
